Sarasota County bans homeless camps from public property

Sarasota County Commissioners voted to ban homeless camps with a new ordinance beginning in 2018. The ordinance will first warn homeless residents that they cannot camp on public property. They will have a choice to:
1. leave
2. or be taken to a shelter
3. or go to jail
